"I like finding typos in menus. And I know my shellfish pun is stupid, but I’m not all of the sudden going to stop making stupid jokes. Shouldn’t we hold out for person who doesn’t just tolerate our little quirks but actually kinda likes them?"
(Ted Mosby, How I Met Your Mother, Episode 5x02)
and
"I like you. Just as you are."
(Mark Darcy, Bridget Jones's Diary)
But then again;
"When you develop an infatuation for someone, you always find a reason to believe that this is exactly the person for you. It doesn't need to be a good reason. Taking photographs of the night sky, for example.
Now on the long run, that's just the kind of dumb, irritating habit that would cause you to split up. But in the haze of infatuation, it's just what you've been searching for all those years."
(Richard, The Beach)
I suppose it's merely dumb to look for the person to love you 'just as you are' - Because love will vanish after s/he gets used to you, your looks, your talks and all your behaviour. It is plain stupid to hope that someone will really like you or tolerate you for a long time, even though you care enough to change for her/him just a very little bit.
You have to change, or vary, a lot; to be loved constantly.
Otherwise, you are alone.
And I'm plain stupid.
(And I, too, like to find typos in menus.)
